Today I dedicated my day to organizing my art portfolio and sending out art to a man named Matthew Zavala. He's a friend of my dads and supports my art! He says he wanted to make T-Shirts and sell them at his shops. He's even helping us at Gnashing trying to find a place for our art show! He didn't reply much thought which was disappointing. But I know he's been really busy with a new upcoming project he has. I might see him next week, I hope I do! Ill include all of the photos and scans I have sent him. The art i sent are all from a span of one year. I can certainly see how much I have grown. And its pretty finny and crazy to think I thought I was ok at this.. But that makes me excited to see what I could do in the next year! Today was a very slow but time consuming day. My mom, aunt, grandma, grandpa and I went to go look at my car that I have perviously gotten in an accident with. It was really emotional and I was really upset. I was actually really surprised at how upset I was. I wasn't expecting it at all.
I was crying because my mom didnt let me go snd see the car, she thought it was more important for her to go and see, when I needed to go and get my things from car. I don't understand why she did this and I'm still and about it. That basically left me feeling hopeless and sad the whole day so all I did after was lay in bed. Below I am attaching photos of the car and also of my family posing next to the strip club right next door. haha. And also me eating with my cut on my head. Today, Mom, Sven, Jakob and I went to my hometown where my grandparents live called Jacumba. Which Jakob insisted on calling Jacucumba. It wads rainy and for some reason the boy was FRIGHTENED of the tiny town. I understand, the town had its history and it dank and dark there. There is almost no people and if there are they rarely ever show their faces. We stayed for a whole maybe around 9pm, so when we left its was very dark and cold. My grandma gave us Pan Dulce to eat and we looked at my baby photos that she kept of me, it was nice! Until Jakob decided to google stories of the town and got frightened again. Haha.
Even though today got off to a very slow start, It was pretty productive. Like, really productive. Jakob came over and I was trying to do some art with him but he wasnt feeling it. So I decided to draw alone. He was with me, showng me some clips he got for his new skate video that's supposed to come out this year. Last night while I was watching youtube, hoping to find some inpiration for today, I came across a blind contour video. Which basically means you draw something without looking look at the paper, and only the object also, all in one sroke. I didnt do the stroke thing though! I drew myself, then Jakob, then Sven then Jakob again. Then I drew a plant in my house. But after that I could tell Jakob wasnt enjoying himself so I grabbed all of my things so I could draw in my room and he could show my clips on his laptop. This is when I started drawing a lady. I was working on it all day. But of course- I painted it and ruined it. On a more posotive note- I cut my hair today and it looks good! I took a break from drawing and looked for venues for the next art show us at Gnashing want to have. I emailed around five people and only heard back from one. They said its $350 an hour so we're not considering that. I also emailed a family friend, KoKo. Who also is the founder of a magazine called LADYGUNN, who is also who I am interning with this year! She had asked me to eamil her details about what I wanted to do while intering and so I did. I also asked her if i should be traveling for the intership. At the moment she lives in Stockholm, Sweden but might move to New York soon. I wasnt exactly sure how it was going to work with the distance or if I should go to her, so I asked. I hope she says I should go! Some other eventful things happened today ith my family. Like furiture buying and moving etc. But that wasnt me really. What I really did today was stay up late and make art. Haha. I made a couple phome cases which I like- but also dont like. Ill show you below. Sorry the photos ae backwards :-/
On a positive note- Jakob and I have been planning on going to disney land this week- and just as we were about ot give up, my dad randomly texted me saying he could take us on sunday for my sister bday. So me and him will split the price for his ticket, because theyre so darn pricey! But thats ok with me, Im just so excited. Life is mysterious. These past days I've been staying in Tecate, a border city in in Mexico. Practically on the border. It wasn't a great time considering the circumstances. I went to go visit one of my cousins and go to a funeral of my other. They had gotten in a tragic car accident and unfortunately my cousin, Emme, didn't make it. He was only 22 and was visiting from Guadalajara, where he goes to music school. I didnt task any photos for obvious reasons, but I did take one a white dog who was clothed. Which for some reason won't upload so I will try again later. Hello! Sorry Im writing so late, I had to work and I work from four to eleven pm. Anyway! It was raining a buttload today. It wasnt a good day to hike. And I noticed that some trails close when it rains anyway. So instead I had an art day! I had forgotten that I wanted to incorperate some art into my intercession. I got a ton of new supplies last weekened so I was excited to use them. Ill include photos below but theyre not scans since my scanner doesnt work :'( Today I also got trapped into a youtube hole today. I ended up watching videos about this game called Bioshock I really liked, and came across a video that told 107 facts about it that I "probably didn't know". Which I didn't. Haha. In the game there are these "spliced out" people that are kind of like crackheads. Instead of crack they keep injecting themselves with gene tonics that give them super powers, and when they take too many they basically turn into mutants. That look like this:
I apologize if you shrieked or will have nightmares tonight :(
I might be a creepy kind of gal, because right after I looked this guy up- I was inspired. I decided that I must draw these people and I have to make an art series. I hope to start soon because I am truly inspired. I want to draw these people so bad but I am just too sleepy to now! But I will make sure to display my drafts on the blog as soon as I do. Again, I am sorry for the creey men. They thought the looked good thats all that matters. Today Jakob and I went to Mission Trails. Originally, I was supposed to go to Potato Chip Rock but Jakob wasnt able to get me until passed noon and we didnt have as much time as yesterday. But we hiked for about two and half hours and it was really great. Other than the waterfalls and landscape, my favorite part would have to have been seeing Jakob scared haha. I have never seen him even the slightest bit truly scared, other than when we saw Lights Out in the theatre. Anyway- I was worried that it would be hot out because we left the house later but, to our advantage, it wasnt. It was really nice out! I had just been to the trails the week before but it was so muddy and gloomy, and I hadnt gone nearly as far as I did today! Jakob was starving and I told him he had to wait for the "Sandwich Spot", which was where I planned for ua to eat lunch. It was tiny waterfall with great big smooth rocks. Once we fianlly got there, we dug in. After we ate our lunches, Jakob told me he had to be home before his dad did because he had some chores to do. I have to admit I was disapointed but after some begging and convincing, we keot walking. (everything ended up ok with his chores) The walk from this waterfall to the next was mysterious, because I had never walked through there before and I was determined to see the waterfall. This is also around the time Jakob got scared because we saw a "BEWARE" sign and displayed all sorts of kinds of Poison Oak. It was pretty funny. Fortunatley I didnt spot any and neither did Jakob. But after about half an hour we found the waterfall. It was amazing. It was nothing tropical but it was really great to see. It made the whole hike worth it. We stayed here for about 20 minutes and headed back. The structure of the rocks and the creek came togother so beautifuly it was truly a sight. This part of the trail also had more rock climbing, and that was fun! It got me thinking about the schools climbing team.
But tomorrow I think were going to Potato Chip Rock. I've never been there before but I think well have a great time again!
Finally, we found a trail and it was hidden behind some sticks and rubbish. There was a a decent sized ouddle that was resally big, and Jakob was really scared to cross it, but I went anyway knowing he would have to follow. As we went deeper into the canyon, I noticed that the "puddles" got bigger and bigger, until they werent exactly puddles anymore, but creeks! They were pretty muddy and brown, but I still appreciated them. They reminded me of a house I used to have in Harbinson Canyon near Alpine. We had a brand new house just for my dad and I, and just about thirty feet away there a dirt cliff kin dof thing, and below it was a creek. Me, being the adventurous ten-year-old I was I ran down the cliff to fimd a creek and tons of frogs and sardines and gross bugs. But I loved it. Throughput the hike thats really all that was there, some creeks and a few people, some trash. The usual. After we had to leap across another big puddle, we found a great big tree that was so low! It looked really nice and the whole scene behind it was spooky and alluring. We also found an over-grown pine cone that was five feet tall. But not really, it was just a broken palm tree. But it really did look like a huge pine cone! Im really looking forward to tomorrows hike. I hope that there isnt as many people like today, there was hardly any and it felt like a real hike. Another thing I hope for is for it to last longer that todays! Until then!
The last two weeks have been good to me. Minus some minor issues like for example, getting in a car crash and wrecking my (very) ol' Camry. But I'm okay and the accident wasnt my fault. Its been pretty rough for me after that because I've been a bit depressed about it, but soon my life will be back to normal and I hope these hikes will help me with a bit of self reflection and help me to better understand myself and what I could do for myself to get me back on track.
Today my mom and I went grocery shopping for this week, I wanted to pack lunches and snacks and all that and eat it at the trails, I know it would be really nice. I cant wait for that part, it will be my favorite! Tomorrow I plan on going to Los Penasquitos Canyon. Ive never been before but Ive been researching and looking at lots of photos and it looks really beautiful, like something could really enjoy! Tomorrow I will also be writing up a blog post with some neat photos I've taken at Los Penasquitos! Until then, I should probably sleep! |
